Direct answer

What Property Owners Need to Know

Mr. Backflow’s published rate is $90 for eligible domestic or irrigation backflow devices 2 inches and under. Certification and district filing are included. Eligible devices larger than 2 inches through 3 inches require team review. Carlsbad residents receive a separate approved local rate of $73.80.

The Published Testing Price

Eligible domestic or irrigation assemblies 2 inches and under are $90. The price includes the certified test and district filing when applicable. The district still controls its processing, record matching and acceptance.

Commercial and Multi-Device Testing

The published standard rate can apply to a qualifying commercial domestic or irrigation device within scope. Properties with several assemblies can request a combined quote so the team can review device count, sizes, locations and access together.

When the Request Needs Team Review

Eligible devices larger than 2 inches through 3 inches, unusual access conditions, uncertain system types and requests involving multiple locations need review before pricing or scheduling is confirmed.

Mr. Backflow provides certified testing, repairs, replacements, and installations for backflow preventers up to 3 inches. Fire systems and larger assemblies are not included in our service scope.

Why the Water Provider Still Matters

The City of San Diego states that assemblies in its program require annual testing, but some San Diego addresses are served by other water agencies. The provider on the current notice or bill controls the record, deadline and filing process for the property.

Compare Written Scope, Not Just a Headline Price

A useful comparison confirms the device size and system, certification, filing, access assumptions, added repair authorization and any separate charges. A website price should not be treated as approval for work outside the published scope.

Practical Checklist

  • Confirm the serving water provider
  • Have the current test notice or assembly record ready
  • Count every device included in the request
  • Record the device size and system type if known
  • Ask for a combined quote when the property has multiple assemblies
