Effective October 19, 2026. These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") apply to the Mr. Backflow website and general service-request process. Mr. Backflow is a California contractor operating under California Contractor License #1117220.
1. Website Terms and Separate Service Agreements
By using this website, you agree to the provisions concerning website use, communications and general information. Submitting a form, using written chat or requesting an appointment does not by itself create a service contract, confirm a price or reserve a date or time.
Actual work may be governed by an estimate, work order, invoice, service-and-repair agreement, home-improvement contract or other written agreement. That agreement controls if it conflicts with these website Terms. For residential work subject to California home-improvement or service-and-repair contract laws, Mr. Backflow will use a separate written agreement containing the information and notices required by law. These website Terms do not replace that agreement, waive a cancellation right or limit a protection that cannot lawfully be waived.
2. Service Requests and Scheduling
All requests are subject to review of location, device, size, system type, access, requested work and availability. A requested date or arrival window is not confirmed until Mr. Backflow communicates confirmation. Arrival and completion times are estimates and may be affected by traffic, emergencies, weather, site conditions, parts availability, district requirements and earlier jobs. Mr. Backflow does not guarantee a particular appointment, completion, filing or approval time unless a signed written agreement expressly says otherwise.
3. Service Scope and Customer Responsibilities
Mr. Backflow's currently published service scope covers eligible backflow preventers up to and including 3 inches; fire systems and larger assemblies are outside the published scope unless separately reviewed and accepted in writing. The customer must provide accurate information and safe, lawful and unobstructed access to the device, meter box, irrigation valves, plumbing equipment and work area. The customer must disclose known hazards, leaks, access restrictions, pets, tenant or association requirements and other conditions that could affect the work.
Mr. Backflow may postpone or decline work when information is incomplete, conditions are unsafe, access is unavailable, requested work is outside the licensed or accepted scope, or required authorization has not been provided.
4. Estimates, Repairs, Parts and Changes
Published prices apply only to the stated standard scope and eligibility conditions. Estimates and ranges are not final prices unless identified as such in an accepted written agreement. Taxes, district fees, permits, hard parts, concealed conditions and work outside the original scope may be additional when disclosed and authorized as required by law.
If testing identifies a failed device or additional work, Mr. Backflow will describe the recommended repair or replacement and obtain the customer's approval before performing chargeable work beyond the authorized scope. Changes to work governed by a written California home-improvement contract will be documented through a written change order when required.
5. Payment, Cancellations and Rescheduling
Payment is due as stated in the applicable estimate, contract, work order or invoice. Any deposit, progress payment, finance charge, late charge, returned-payment charge or cancellation fee applies only when disclosed in the applicable agreement and permitted by law.
Please provide reasonable notice to cancel or reschedule. Mr. Backflow may reschedule work because of unsafe conditions, emergencies, weather, parts or personnel availability, district requirements or circumstances outside reasonable control. Any legally required cancellation notice or right stated in a separate service agreement remains controlling.
6. Testing, Filing and Water-District Requirements
When included in the authorized scope, Mr. Backflow submits eligible backflow test results to the applicable water district or portal. Water districts and other authorities control their own records, fees, deadlines, acceptance criteria and enforcement. Mr. Backflow cannot extend a deadline or guarantee passing results, filing times, agency acceptance or avoidance of penalties, shutoff or other district action. The customer remains responsible for providing accurate account and device information and for charges or obligations imposed directly by an authority unless the written service agreement states otherwise.
7. Water Shutoffs, Existing Conditions and Customer Property
Testing, diagnosis, repair, replacement or installation may require operating valves or temporarily interrupting water service. Plumbing components can fail when operated because of age, corrosion, improper installation, prior damage, concealed defects, deteriorated piping, faulty valves, excessive pressure or other pre-existing conditions. To the extent permitted by law, Mr. Backflow is not responsible for damage caused solely by a pre-existing or concealed condition, an unknown utility, customer-supplied equipment, unauthorized work by others, or the customer's failure to disclose a known hazard.
This section does not exclude responsibility for Mr. Backflow's own negligence, willful misconduct or any liability that cannot legally be limited.
8. Photos and Service Records
Mr. Backflow may photograph devices, existing conditions, work areas and completed work when reasonably necessary for estimating, documentation, compliance, customer support, insurance or dispute resolution. Customer-identifiable photos will not be used for advertising, social media or other marketing without separate permission. Records may be disclosed to the customer, an authorized property representative, a water district, an insurer, a professional adviser or another recipient permitted by the Privacy Policy and applicable law.
9. Communications and Written Chat
Website chat provides general written information and helps collect service details. It may be automated and cannot diagnose a device, provide emergency assistance, alter a contract, confirm final pricing or bind Mr. Backflow. For urgent leaks, flooding, loss of water or safety concerns, contact an appropriate emergency service or qualified professional and call Mr. Backflow directly when appropriate.
Consent to recurring automated service-related texts is optional, is not a condition of purchase and is collected through a separate unchecked checkbox. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for assistance. Marketing texts require separate consent. See the Privacy Policy for more information.
10. Workmanship Concerns and Additional Work
Please report a workmanship concern promptly so Mr. Backflow has a reasonable opportunity to inspect it. Minor adjustment or touch-up requests should normally be reported within two days after service, but that request period does not eliminate any written warranty, statutory warranty or other right that cannot legally be waived. Work that is outside the original authorized scope, caused by a new event or unrelated to Mr. Backflow's work may require a separate estimate and authorization.
11. Website Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
Website content is general information and may not be complete or suitable for a particular property, device or legal requirement. Do not use the website as a substitute for an on-site assessment, a water-district notice, a signed service agreement or advice from a qualified professional.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mr. Backflow is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary or consequential damages arising from website use or a service, including loss caused by delay, loss of use or third-party action. To the maximum extent permitted by law, total liability for a claim arising from a particular paid service will not exceed the amount paid to Mr. Backflow for that service. These limitations do not apply to gross negligence, willful misconduct, personal injury caused by negligence, violation of law, an express written warranty or another liability that cannot legally be limited.
12. Acceptable Website Use and Third-Party Services
You may not misuse the website, attempt unauthorized access, interfere with operation, submit false or unlawful information, introduce malicious code, impersonate another person or use website content in violation of law. Website content, branding and original materials are owned by or licensed to Mr. Backflow and may not be copied or commercially reused without permission except as allowed by law.
The website may depend on or link to third-party services. Mr. Backflow does not control an independent third party's availability, content, terms or privacy practices. Use of a third-party service may be governed by that party's own terms.
13. Changes, Severability and Contact
Mr. Backflow may update these Terms by posting a revised version with a new effective date. Changes apply prospectively unless applicable law permits otherwise. If a provision is found unenforceable, it will be enforced to the greatest extent permitted and the remaining provisions will remain in effect. A failure to enforce a provision once is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.
